Wasim Akram, former Pakistan skipper, backs the decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on appointing Shahid Afridi as the team captain for the World Cup, telling that the allrounder, 30, deserves on leading the team.
Akram said in an interview that the Pakistan board just made the right decision to select Afridi as the skipper. He said that despite of the delay of the decision, he’s still happy that in the end, the board had chosen the most “able” man for the lead.
The former player further said that Afridi has been leading the side for quite some time already and got gripping with the captaincy nuances. He said that in cricket, one needs at least a year or two to perfect the captaincy art and he thinks this why Afridi was chosen.
