Australia A beat Zimbabwe XI by 90 runs in the opening match of the Coca Cola Triangular A series involving Zimbabwe XI, Australia A and South Africa A.
Zimbabwe XI chasing 233 to win were bowled out for 142 runs in 39 overs. Only Vusi Sibanda who scored 37 off 64 balls and Hamilton Masakadza who made 57 off 87 balls showd some resistance.
Victorian quick John Hastings took three wickets givingi away only 22 runs and South Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon took four wickets giving away 22 runs.
Earlier, After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Australians made 8-232 from their 50 overs. Australia lost two quick in form of Dave Warner who was out off the bowling of Chris Mpofu for just one, and Aaron Finch who LBW by Mpofu.
Aussies were struggling at 2-33 in the 11th over but were resuced by a third wicket partnership between vice Captain, Callum Ferguson (52), and Nic Maddinson (63) of 98 runs.
Mitchell Marsh (23 off 42) and Tim Paine (37 off 40) scored some runs as to take their team to a respectable total.
Mpofu finished with 3-31 from his 10 overs, with Keegan Meth, Elton Chigumbura, Utseya and Masakadza claiming one wicket each.
