Bad weather delays start of Kochi ODI

The start of the first match of the one-day cricket series between India and Australia has been delayed due to a wet outfield.

It has been raining for the last few days and a few overnight showers meant that the start of the match was delayed. The sun is shining and the ground staff are working hard to dry the wet outfield as quickly possible.

Match referee Chris Broad and the match officials have inspected the ground. The next inspection is scheduled to happen at around 11:00 AM IST.

By the time I write it has started to drizzle in Kochi and it is getting a little heavier.

The match has been called off due to persistent rain.
