Windward Islands vs Jamaica
Jamaica defeated the Windward Islands by five-wickets in the first semi-final of the 2012 Caribbean Twenty20 tournament at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.
Windwards, who had won four games on the trot in the lead-up to the semis, were restricted to 98-8 off 20 overs by Jamaica.
Wicketkeeper Lindon James topscored with 37 not out and opener Johnson Charles scored 29. Leg-spinner Odean Brown and left-arm seamers Sheldon Cotterell and Krishmar Santokie each claimed two wickets.
In reply, Jamaica lost three wickets for three runs, slipping from 33 for no loss to 36 for 3. Captain David Bernard (22), Nkrumah Bonner (19) and Marlon Samuels (16) made important contribution as their team won with two overs to spare.
Barbados vs Trinidad & Tobago
Defending champions Trinidad & Tobago beat Barbados by five-wickets in the second semi-final of the 2012 Caribbean Twenty20 tournament at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.
Barbados, after choosing to bat, were bowled out for just 90 runs with spinners with all-rounder Dwayne Bravo taking 3-23, while Sunil Narine (2-10) and Samuel Badree (2-11) chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, Trinidad & Tobago were reduced to 45 for 5 at one stage but Kieron Pollard’s quickfire 31 from 23 balls with help of three fours and two sixes saw Trinidad & Tobago progress to the finals.
Pollard shared an unbroken sixth wicket stand of 48 with Jason Mohammed (11 not out).
The final between Jamaica and T&T will be played on January 22. Barbados play Windwards for the third-place play-off on the same day.
