Pace bowler Chris Tremlett will miss the rest of England’s Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates because of a lower back injury.
Surrey paceman Tremlett, who played in last week’s opening match in Dubai, will return to the UK immediately for the injury to be assessed before a course of treatment is agreed.
“Gutted to be going home early from the tour but hopefully get the back sorted out quickly. Thanks for all the kind messages,” tweeted Tremlett.
The same injury kept him out of England contention for nearly six months after a hamstring injury led to a back problem on the eve of last summer’s Trent Bridge Test against India.
A decision on a replacement for Tremlett will be made in due course.
