A newly-formed Scottish media company has been given the non-exclusive rights for live online streaming of their multi-camera coverage of the England vs ICC Combined Associate and Affiliate (AM) XI match to be played in the lead-up to England’s series against Pakistan in the UAE next week.
Quipu TV will be providing this online coverage of the three-day game at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai from 7-9 January, between Andrew Strauss’s team and Irish captain William Porterfield’s men.
The match will serve as a warm-up game in the Gulf conditions for England. It will also be a showcase for some of the top cricketers from the non-Test playing nations, including stars from Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Namibian and the UAE.
Coverage of the match is expected to be particularly popular amongst the 25,000 members of English cricket’s Barmy Army, whose travellers are not expected to arrive in Dubai until the week following England’s tour opener.
Chief executive Jack McGill said, “It’s fantastic that we have been granted the non- exclusive live online coverage rights to this game, and we regard it as a great privilege.
“All of our directors are cricket fans and cricketers themselves, and we have a passion for the sport, which we hope to convey in our coverage.”
The game will be made available through at least eight cricket websites, including cricketscotland.com. A payment gateway contained within the video player will allow access to eight hours of live coverage on all three days for US$9.99.
The company expects to be on air continuously from 0515 to 1330 GMT on each of the three days, providing live ball-by-ball coverage, expert commentary, with live interviews and features before and after the game, and during the intervals.
