The Indian fast bowlers took the advantage of the overcast conditions in Trent Bridge and had England tottering at 124 runs at the loss of eight wickets at tea on Day 1 before Stuart Broad came in and helped England reach 221.
In reply, India lost the wicket of Abhinav Mukund off the very first ball of the innings. India were 24 runs for the loss of one wicket with VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid at the crease at the end of day’s play.
Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bowl first here, Ishant Sharma removed opener Alastair Cook in the sixth over for just two runs. A few overs later, S Sreesanth got the wicket of inform Jonathan Trott.
Kevin Pietersen and Strauss managed to see England to lunch at 69-2
Resuming after lunch, India were able to get the wicket of Kevin Pietersen, who was caught at third slip by Raina on the bowling of Sreesanth.
Praveen Kumar got the wickets of Andrew Strauss and Eoin Morgan in the same over.
A couple of overs later, Matt Prior edged on the balling of Sreesanth to Rahul Dravid at first slip which left England tottering at 88/6.

In his next over, Sharma picked Ian Bell as the batsman edged the ball to the keeper.
England were eight wickets down at tea with Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann in the middle.
Swann and Broad went after the Indian bowlers in the third session with a 73-run stand. Swann scored 28 runs before getting caught at gully by Abhinav Mukund on the bowling of Praveen Kumar.
Stuart Broad smashed 64 off 66 balls before getting out to Harbhajan Singh.
