Fidel Edwards, the West Indies fast bowler, and Doug Bollinger have joined the Sydney Thunder for the KFC T20 Big Bash League.
Fidel Edwards has just completed three Tests against India where he claimed 19 wickets at an average of 20, with a series best haul of 5-76. Edwards has played 12 Twenty20 Internationals for the West Indies, taking 10 wickets at 30.80, and 50 One Day Internationals where he has claimed 60 wickets at 30.20.
Doug Bollinger impressed during the 2011 Indian Premier League season where he was the second leading wicket taker for tournament champions, the Chennai Super Kings, claiming 17 scalps at 19.35. He has also tasted plenty of success for the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues and was an important member of the side which won the Champions League tournament in 2009.
“Signing Fidel Edwards and Doug Bollinger continues our policy of recruiting some of the game’s hottest talent,” said Sydney Thunder General Manager, John Dyson.
“They are going to create plenty of headaches for batsmen in the KFC T20 Big Bash League. Fidel has proven to be a consistent wicket taker, especially in the last series against India, while Doug is one of the premier fast bowlers in Australia and is coming off an excellent IPL series.”
Edwards is the Sydney Thunder’s second overseas signing, joining countryman Chris Gayle in electric green for the inaugural KFC T20 Big Bash League. Bollinger is the latest Australian player to join the Thunder along with David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Tim Cruickshank and Jason Floros.
