Hyderabad coach Venkatapathy Raju resigns

Hyderabad’s coach and batting coach had been prompted on resigning along with 4 senior players such as Arjun, Shivlal Yadav’s son, by the humiliation they suffered in the recent Ranji game versus Rajasthan.

Venkatapathy Raju, head coach and an ex-India spinner, and Vivek Jaisimha, batting coach, placed their resignation papers during the emergency they had yesterday with the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Member of the HCA’s Cricket Development Committee and a former captain of Ranji, MV Sridhar will be replacing Raju for the next 3 matches of Hyderabad, according to a source.

With medium-pacer Deepak Chahar of Rajasthan catching 8 for ten in the 1st innings, Hyderabad had been beaten by 256 runs and an innings.

Chahar, 18, did go on adding another 4 in the game’s 2nd innings.

Kanwaljit Singh, uner-19 coach of Hyderabad, had also resigned from his post after the 4 successive defeats of his team. Former batsman Vijay Mohanraj has replaced him.
