India won the toss and chose to bat against England in the second one-day international at Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday.
India have replaced Ashok Dinda with Shami Ahmed, while England have brought in Chris Woakes in place of an unfit Tim Bresnan.
India captain MS Dhoni said, “It will slow down slightly. The reason being the climate also, it will test the fitness.
“The pitch looks very different, it won’t have the same kind of bounce and the black soil has a tendency of slowing down.”
England captain Alastair Cook said, “It’s a hot and humid day in Kochi and the crowd really do seem up for this one.”
“It’s an incredible atmosphere. There were hundreds of fans outside when we arrived, despite the ground being full.
“The lads are looking forward to it. This is the reason we play cricket.”
