India Team For Test Series In England Announced

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the Indian team that will play the four-match Test series against England, in July-August 2011.

Virender Sehwag, who has not yet fully recoverd after undergoing surgery on his shoulder, has made it to 17-man squad, but will join the team two weeks later.

Sachin Tendulkar returned to the squad after skipping the West Indies tour to rest. Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Yuvraj Singh are all in the team after recovering from the injuries.

Suresh Raina, who played good knocks in the Tests against West Indies, has been retained in the squad. Abhinav Mukund, who has not immpressed much except the 48 in Barbados on Friday, is in the team as the reserve opener.

Wriddhiman Saha has been included as the reserve wicketkeeper. Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra are all in the squad.

Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli, who failed to impress on the ongoing West Indies tour, have been dropped.

India will play four Test matches against England with the first match scheduled to be held at the Lord’s from July 21-25. The third Test will be held in Edgbaston, Birmingham from August 10-14 followed by the fourth and the final match of the series at the Oval from August 18-22.

India will also play a five-match ODI series and one-off Twenty20 match against England during the tour. The squad for that series will be announced later.
