India have won the toss and decided to bat against West Indies in the first Digicel Test match of the three-match series at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
India are playing with two spinners – Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra and two fast bowlers – Praveen Kumar and Ishant Sharma. India handed out debuts to Abhinav Mukund, Virat Kohli and Praveen Kumar
West Indies have left out Kemar Roach and Marlon Samuels to include Fidel Edwards and Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Darren Sammy said, “We would have liked to bowl first. Roach and Samuels are out. The selectors have stuck to the combination. There will be some moisture and we’ll be looking to make inroads. Hopefully we’ll maintain the momentum”.
MS Dhoni said, “We’ll bat first. It looks like a good wicket, slightly damp and may help the seamers early on, but our combination suits batting first. We have two fast bowlers and two spinners. Munaf and Ojha are missing”.
