IPL 2012: Star studded opening ceremony on April 3 in Chennai

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 opening ceremony will be held in M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the home venue of the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings.


Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, music band Colonial Cousins, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhu Deva and American singer and actress Katy Perry are all set to make the IPL 2012 a grand ceremony with their amazing performances.

Katy Perry, the international musical sensation, shows the boys how it’s done before they speed away into a new season of DLF IPL. Having ruled the music charts and won every prestigious award from the Billboard to the Brit, the pop princess is all set to storm the DLF IPL 2012 Opening Nite, an evening that will set the tone for a summer of high-quality cricket.

The International Pop Star flaunts a unique mix of talent, spirit and innovation, reflective of the tournament that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.

“We look forward to Ms. Perry’s participation at the DLF IPL 2012 Opening Nite. A performer of her calibre makes the occasion even more special for the IPL family – players, organisers and fans,” IPL Chairman, Rajeev Shukla, said about the star’s much-anticipated act.

“The verve and originality of her music matches that of the competition and we look forward to an inspired performance from her.”

All nine team captains will be present to take the MCC Spirit of Cricket pledge, reaffirming the values in IPL’s commitment to the spirit of cricket, which has been on display since the competitions inception in 2008.

IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla is delighted to welcome stars, cricketers, fans and connoisseurs to the latest season of IPL.

It is being learnt that the Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Ruk Khan will give a miss to this year’s IPL opening ceremony.
