Daniel Vettori, the skipper of New Zealand, had insisted that the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions wasn’t the reason for the embarassing 10-wicket loss of their team opposing to Pakistan in the 1st cricket Test on Sunday.
He had clarified that the auction wasn’t a distraction and it couldn’t be attributed to the dismal show of the Black Caps.
Vetorrie said in an interview that those things, obviously, can just be misconstrued.
Vettori said that the IPL is part of cricket and people just have to deal with it. He added that it shouldn’t be used as an excuse for your not-so-good performance.
He further said that the IPL auctions shouldn’t also be a motivating factor for one’s performance since it’s about the Test match.
Vettori said that people play the game because they want to perform at the Test level.
