James Foster agrees new Essex contract

Essex Captain, James Foster, has committed his future to Essex by signing a 3 year contract, ending speculation of a transfer to Hampshire.

James Foster said, “I am delighted to have signed a 3 year contract with Essex. When another Club expresses an interest in you it is tough not to listen, but ultimately I did not want to leave Essex.

“I still see playing cricket for Essex as a privilege, and I will continue to give everything to the Club as a player and captain.”

Chief Executive, David East said, “We are all so pleased that James has reaffirmed his committment with the Club where he has been for all his professional career. It is no secret that we gave Hampshire permission to speak with James once we received a formal request to approach him, and we are delighted that having done so he has decided that his future is at Essex as our captain.”

“We all look to him to help us build a vibrant and successful squad from the hugely talented pool of young players we have on our books , and he is very excited about the opportunity we have together”

Paul Grayson Essex Head Coach further added, “I am delighted that he is committed to the club and look forward to continuing with the strong working relationship we have together.”

“We have a great opportunity to develop our young squad for the future and I am excited by the prospect of continuing to work with James to achieve this.”
