Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against India in Perth due to a foot injury.
Pattinson, who has taken 25 wickets in just four Tests, was cleared of stress fractures but it has been revealed he has developed the early stage of stress-related bone trauma on his left metatarsal.
“Whilst he was able to bowl unrestricted in the game he did have pain towards the end of the match,” Australian Physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said.
“As such, he had x-rays and scans after the game that have cleared him of a stress fracture but have demonstrated early stage bone stress injury of the metatarsal bone of the left foot.”
“He will be managed carefully over the next few weeks and will not be available for selection for the remainder of the Vodafone Test series against India.”
Mitchell Starc has been added to the squad in place of Pattinson.
