Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field against Rajasthan Royals, led by Rahul Dravid, in the IPL clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.
Adam Gilchrist, David Hussey, Shaun Marsh and James Faulkner are the foreign players in the Punjab side. Rajasthan have gone in with Owais Shah, Brad Hodge, Johan Botha and Kevon Cooper.
Kings XI Punjab captain, Adam Gilchrist, said that the pitch at Sawai Mansingh will not change its character through the length of the match and decided to opt for bowl.
Gilchrist, said “I’ve got a pretty good idea about how many balls I have to hit, I’m used to practising for the IPL without much cricket behind my back.
“I am part of the coaching and management group now. It is a group effort from everyone in the franchise.
“David Hussey, Shaun Marsh, myself and Faulkner are the foreign players in the side.”
Disappointed by the loss of toss, Rajasthan Royals captain, Rahul Dravid, remarked that he would have fielded as well had he won the toss.
Dravid, said “I have been preparing for the tournament. I have enjoyed the last 2 weeks, hope to have a good tournament and enjoy the next few weeks.
“I miss both the captain and leg spinner Warne. Warne’s presence and his personality will be missed, but hopefully we have a good blend of youngsters who can do well. We’ll have to look out for Menaria, Ankit Chavan, Rahane and Kevon Cooper.
“I would have fielded as well, but we are not really concerned. We just need to play good cricket. Cooper, Botha, Owais Shah and Hodge are the foreign players.”
