Mumbai Indians opt to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders
Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and elected to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 58th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Kolkata have included Manvinder Bisla and Shakib al Hasan inplace of injured Brendon McCullum and Pradeep Sangwan.
Mumbai Indians have replaced RP Singh and James Franklin with Munaf Patel and Herschelle Gibbs.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain, Gautam Gambhir, said “When you come onto the field and play competitve cricket, you have to be excited.
“We just need to continue the way we are playing, we know winning is a habit and we want to keep that habit going.
“It is not about taking on Sachin, it is about taking on the team Mumbai. Hopefully we can try and bowl well.
“Brendon misses out because of an injured finger, so Bisla replaces him and Shakib comes in for Sangwan.”
Mumbai Indians captain, Harbhajan Singh, said “Sachin has been a great inspiration for all of us. He is the reason why most of us started playing cricket.
“It looks like a good wicket to bat on, the history at Eden suggests that it is easier to score in the first 15-20 overs but after that it gets really difficult.
“It is quite hot and I think it is always bettter to bat first. Gibbs is fit and Munaf comes in for RP Singh.”
