Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekara and Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir have achieved career-best rankings in the ICC Player Rankings for T20I bowlers after strong performances in the two-match series that finished on Sunday.
Kulasekera and Tanvir finished as their sides’ leading wicket-takers with four wickets each in the series, which ended in a one-all draw.
Kulasekara has jumped 15 places into 11th position and is now Sri Lanka’s third highest-ranked bowler after an injured Ajantha Mendis (fourth) and Lasith Malinga (seventh), while Tanvir has rocketed 24 places to claim 32nd spot.
Angelo Mathews, who captained Sri Lanka in the second T20I, has also achieved a career-best 27th spot after gaining nine places on the table, while Thisara Perera, who was man of the match in the first T20I, has also claimed a career-high 57th spot.
Besides Tanvir, Pakistan’s off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has climbed up one position and is now in second spot – just 11 points behind England’s Graeme Swann.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Gul have both dropped in the latest rankings. Hafeez has slipped one place to eighth spot while Umar has fallen out of the top 20 after slipping seven places to 22nd position.
There is no good news for batsmen from either side in the ICC Player Rankings for T20I batsmen.
Mahela Jayawardena, Tillerkatne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara (all Sri Lanka) and Umar Akmal (Pakistan), who all feature inside the top 20, have conceded one place each.
Meanwhile, in the ICC T20I Championship table, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have retained their pre-series rankings but Sri Lanka has dropped two ratings points while Pakistan has gained one ratings point.
