Cycling great Lance Armstrong has sent a message to Yuvraj Singh, wishing him a speedy recovery and offering help in his battle against cancer.
Yuvraj, player of the tournament in India’s 2011 World Cup victory, is undergoing chemotherapy in the United States.
Yuvraj posted a photograph of Armstrong’s message on his Twitter account.
“I want you to know that the entire Livestrong team is here for you. We say it all the time, and truly believe in it. Knowledge is power, unity is strength and attitude is everything,” said the message from Armstrong.
“Please know that we are here to help you and your family in any way possible.”
Yuvraj tweeted that he is feeling “better” after receiving a message of support from Armstrong.
“Message from @lancearmstrong makes me feel better,” he said. “Thank you lance means a lot hope we can meet.”
Armstrong fought his way back from testicular cancer to reach the top in his sport. The 40-year-old has a record seven consecutive Tour de France titles to his credit.
Diagnosed with cancer at the age of 25, Armstrong battled hard to overcome the disease and eventually etched his name in cycling folklore.
The American is Yuvraj’s inspiration in his fight against his ailment.
Yuvraj has been reading Armstrong’s 2000 autobiography ‘It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life’ for inspiration.
