Luke Wright smashes record T20 ton

Melbourne Stars opener Luke Wright blasted the highest-ever score in Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket as his side beat Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League at the Bellerive Oval.

Wright reached his hundred off only 44 balls for Melbourne Stars as they beat Hobart Hurricanes by 19 runs.

Wright made 117 off just 60 balls, smashing nine sixes and eight fours to eclipse the previous best of 111 set by Michael Dighton in 2007.

Wright also posted the highest domestic Twenty20 opening partnership of 172 with Rob Quiney (62 off 50 balls) beating the previous best of 140 shared between Victoria’s Brad Hodge and Aiden Blizzard against South Australia in 2007.
