The International Cricket Council (ICC) and MoneyGram International, a leading global provider of money transfer services, today announced a long-term agreement which confirms MoneyGram as a local partner for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, which takes place in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka from 19 February to 2 April.
The partnership with ICC through to the end of 2015 allows MoneyGram to extend its association with international cricket after its successful sponsorship of the ICC World Twenty20 2010 in the West Indies earlier this year.
MoneyGram is a leading global provider of money transfer services, helping its customers to send money safely around the world. Its global network is comprised of 203,000 agent locations in more than 190 countries and territories. MoneyGram’s convenient and reliable network includes retailers, international post offices and financial institutions.
Senior vice-president and chief marketing officer of MoneyGram Juan Agualimpia said: “MoneyGram is a well-known brand in cricket-playing countries and we are proud to sponsor the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. It is a fun way for MoneyGram to show our support and appreciation for our loyal customers and business partners in cricket-loving countries.
Cricket captivates and inspires people of every age and gender while building bridges between continents, countries and communities – something MoneyGram helps people do around the world through remittances.”
ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said: “It is wonderful that MoneyGram has retained its involvement as a local partner for our flagship event, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The extension says much about the value of our great sport and that we continue to attract and retain sponsors of the calibre of MoneyGram. The global reach of the MoneyGram network is such that ICC can promote its flagship cricket event in many new and exciting destinations worldwide.”
