Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test opener Mohsin Hasan Khan as the new chief selector.
Mohsin, who also acted in Bollywood films during his heyday, has replaced former leg spinner Iqbal Qasim who had resigned from the post owning moral responsibility for the team’s pitiable performance in Australia.
“Mohsin will begin his duties with immediate effect. Mohammad Ilyas, Salim Jaffer and Azhar Khan will continue as regular members of the selection panel while Asif Baloch and Farrukh Zaman will be co-opted members of the committee,” The Daily Times quoted a PCB spokesperson, as saying.
Meanwhile, Mohsin said he would take the final decision regarding his strategy only after meeting PCB chairman Ijaz Butt.
“I will finalise my strategy once I meet chairman of the board. I have a passion to serve Pakistan cricket and will do my best to select players on merit,” The Daily Times quoted Mohsin, as saying. (ANI)
