Essex have named a 13-man squad for their crucial Clydesdale Bank 40 Group C clash with Lancashire at Old Trafford.
Squad includes Ryan ten Doeschate, who was given a two-week break from cricket following a loss of form.
Doeschate had been rested by his club after he had struggled in FL t20 and CB40 since returning from the Indian Premier League.
Matt Walker is also included having recently been sidelined with a viral infection.
With only three more matches to play in the qualifying group, the Eagles need to win as to improve their prospects of reaching the knockout stages but defeat would probably end their chances a semi-final spot.
Head Coach, Paul Grayson said, “We are in a situation at the moment where each game we play is like a Cup Final.”
“We have three games to go in the CB40 and the way the tables are looking at the moment, if we win those three matches, there is a very good chance we could get the best second spot or even end up at the top of our group. So there is plenty of incentive.
“Lancashire Lightning have been playing some excellent one-day cricket recently and we’ll be in for a tough game but our lads have enjoyed a few days off and we are looking forward, not only to this game, but to the rest of the season.
“At the moment, we have plenty to play for and it could be a very interesting conclusion to our season in these coming few weeks.
“We have been lacking consistency right throughout the summer in various one-day competitions and that’s something we need to be mindful of. There’s no better time than now to put a good run together.”
