Sachin Tendulkar

On Thursday, the Congrees led government nominated Sachin along with Bollywood actress Rekha and business leader Anu Aga to the Rajya Sabha.

President Pratibha Patil later approved the nominations.

The news of his nomination, along with that of Rekha and Anu Aga, broke when Sachin with his wife Anjali came to meet Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath in the company of Rajiv Shukla.

With Sachin giving no indication of retirement from international cricket it will be a tough act for him to do justice to both his on field career and his parliamentary duties.

The cricketer, who already holds an honorary position in the Indian Air Force, is in Delhi for Mumbai Indians’ IPL game against Delhi Daredevils on Friday.
