Australian cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist believes Sachin Tendulkar will score his 100th international century in the upcoming India-Australia series.
“Yeah he’s got a good chance of getting it in Australia – the Aussie bowlers won’t like me saying that, but I say it in the sense that he’s scored hundreds in Australia before, he knows the conditions well and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until it happens,” Gilchrist said.
Asked about Ricky Ponting’s retirement, Gilchrist said his last two innings were extremely encouraging and was playing with freedom and skill that the world knows about him.
Gilly believes it should be Ponting’s decision on when he should retire from international cricket.
“Only Ricky (Ponting) knows when he should retire – there’s only one person who should make that decision and that’s him,” he said.
“His last two innings have been extremely encouraging – just playing with that freedom and that skill we’ve always known from Ricky for 15 years.”
“So I’m sure he’s feeling good about his game, he works as hard as anyone in that team and I would imagine he’s looking forward to this series.”
