Sri Lanka beat England by nine-wickets in the one-off NatWest International Twenty20 at County Ground, Bristol.
Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara put on an unbroken stand of 97 for the second wicket which helped Sri Lanka reach their target for the loss of only one wicket (Sanath Jayasuriya) with 16 balls to spare.
Jayawardene scored 72 not out from 57 balls with the help of eight fours and a six. He was supported by Sangakkara, who struck five fours in his unbeaten 43.
Jade Dernbach marked his international debut by dismissing all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya for eight who holed out to Kevin Pietersen at mid-off.
Earlier, England lost their openers Michael Lumb and Craig Kieswetter early on but Pietersen and Morgan put on an 83-run partnership for the third wicket.
Eoin Morgan (47) and Kevin Pietersen (41) both fell in quick succession to leave England 101 for four in the 13th over and no other batsman scored more than Ravi Bopara who scored 19 runs.
Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga took two for 15 and left-arm spinner Jayasuriya two for 18 as England struggled to 136 for nine.
