Sri Lanka beat Scotland by 182 runs in third match of the Tri-Series at Citylets Grange in Edinburgh.
Scotland won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to bat first. Sri Lanka made 284 for seven featuring fifties with help of the fifities from openers Mahela Jayawardene and Dimuth Karunaratne.
Sri Lanka who at one time were struggling at 218/6 were powered by Mendis and Malinga towards the end of the innings. Malinga finished on 32 not out from 15 balls including two fours and two sixes.
Scotland were then dismissed for their second lowest ODI total of 101, with Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga taking five for 30 in an innings where Majid Haq top-scored with 34 and no other batsman made more than 17.
On Malinga’s bowling Drummond said “It’s the uniqueness of how he delivers the ball. We knew he was going to be difficult to face but knowing it and actually doing something about it are different things”.
Sri Lanka’s victory came just a day after Scotland posted their record ODI total of 323 for five to upset World Cup giant-killers Ireland by five wickets.
