Sri Lanka President want the best team for World Cup

 

Mahinda Rajapaksha, the Sri Linaka President, urged today that the national selection committee should be picking the best team available for the World Cup that will take place in its sub-continent next month.

The president was quoted saying that it’ll be the responsibility of the selection committee to pick out the best 15 players.

Ruling the party parliamentarian, veteran batsman Sanath Jayasuriya has been chosen in the 30 players’ provisional squad that will be trimmed down to 15 only, later this month. His and Chaminda Vaas inclusion have raised the eye brows of many.

Both players may have been successful in the 1996 world Cup campaign of Sri Lanka, but they still haven’t figured in recent successes in the 1-day Test.

The younger outfit of Kumar Sangakkara had beaten for the 1st time the Australia Down Under in the cricketing history of Sri Lanka in November.
