Dilshan wins the toss, elects to bat first

Sri Lanka captain Tillakratne Dilshan won the toss and elected to bat first in the first one day international against Australia at Pallekele on Wednesday.

Australia batting has been reinforced by the inclusion of Ricky Ponting, Michael Hussey and the captain Michael Clarke.

Sri Lanka rested Lasith Malinga, who is recovering from the back injury, and went in with two frontline spinners, Ajantha Mendis and Suraj Randiv.

The game is fast bowler Mitchell Johnson’s 100th one-day match for Australia.

Sri Lanka beat Australia 2-0 in the Twenty 20 series.
