Australian cricketer and current New South Wales player, Stephen Norman John O’Keefe, has joined the Sydney Sixers for the inaugural 2011-12 KFC T20 Big Bash League.
O’Keefe is the 12th New South Wales player, alongside Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Ben Rohrer, Peter Nevill, Mitchell Starc, Nic Maddinson, Brett Lee, Patrick Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Shane Watson and Brad Haddin to join the Sixers.
O’Keefe is looking forward to becoming part of the Sydney Sixers: “I think the KFC T20 Big Bash League is a great concept and becoming part of the Sydney Sixers is a real honour.”
“You only have to look at the list of names that have been recruited, to understand that the squad has a stack of quality, and great depth.”
“Playing cricket for the Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground, was a real drawcard, and I can’t wait to join a highly talented group of players.”
“I think the squad has a great combination of youth and experience, and I look forward to getting together with the guys”.
O’Keefe is an outstanding T20 player. He has represented Australia in three T20 Internationals, taking 4-0-29-3 on debut against Pakistan at Edgbaston, England last July.
O’Keefe was picked up by the Kochi Tuskers Kerala during the last Indian Premier League season, and spent the tournament learning from the great Muttiah Muralitharan.
