Uganda Cricket Association appointed former Kenya cricket captain Steve Tikolo as its batting coach.
Tikolo took over the role early last week joining another former Kenya international Martin Suji who has been Uganda national team coach since last year.
“We sought Tikolo on recommendation from the stakeholders’ meeting held after the team returned from an unsuccessful Division II event in Dubai last year when Uganda were relegated to Division III,” said Uganda Cricket Association president Justine Ligyalingi.
“He is a hot property that any team will want to have as a player or coach. We are really lucky to have him here as he accepted to coach,” added Ligyalingi.
Tikolo said, “The board and players have shown their intentions to move forward and improve the level of their game. This is encouraging.
“In life you lose some and gain some. It’s just unfortunate that I have had to leave Kenya but I had to do it.”
