Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2013 Teams & Squads

The final squads for the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 2013, to be played in India from 17 September to 6 October.

Players who were named by more than one team were asked to select which team they were going to play for. Teams were then allowed to replace any player that withdrew from their squad and elected to play for another side.

CLT20 regulations state that when a player elects to play for their ‘away’ team, that team must pay the ‘home’ team $150,000 compensation per player. A ‘home’ team is classified as a team from the country a player is eligible to represent in international cricket.

This payment is applicable for 10 of the 12 players that were eligible for more than one team. The exceptions are Kumar Sangakkara, who will be representing Kandurata Maroons, which is classified as his home team, and Thisara Perera, who qualified for the Brisbane Heat and Hyderabad Sunrisers, neither of which is classified as his home team.

Group Stage

  • Win – 4
  • No Result – 2
  • Loss – 0

In a match declared as a no result, run rate is not applicable.

Qualification for Semi Finals and Progression to the Final

In the event of teams finishing on equal points at the conclusion of the group stage, the right to play in the semi finals will be determined in the following order of priority:

  • The team with the most number of wins;
  • If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate;
  • If still equal, by drawing lots.

In the event of a tie weather conditions prevent the one over per side eliminator from being completed, or if the match is a no result, then the team which progresses to the Final shall be determined in the priorities as listed above.

The Final

If no result is achieved in the final the match shall be declared drawn, and the prize money will be shared equally between the two finalists.

Net Run Rate

A team’s net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team throughout the competition, the average runs per over scored against that team throughout the competition.

In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.

Only those matches where results are achieved will count for the purpose of net run rate calculations. Where a match is abandoned, but a result is achieved under Duckworth/Lewis, for net run rate purposes Team 1 will be accredited with Team 2’s Par Score on abandonment off the same number of overs faced by Team 2. Where a match is concluded but with Duckworth/Lewis having been applied at an earlier point in the match, Team 1 will be accredited with 1 run less than the final Target Score for Team 2 off the total number of overs allocated to Team 2 to reach the target.

Graeme Smith out of Champions League T20

South Africa Test captain, Graeme Smith will not be playing in the 2011 Airtel Champions League taking place in India from September 23 to October 9 2011.

The Proteas medical team have withdrawn Smith as a precaution, after he underwent arthroscopic surgery to his right knee on Friday July 15.

“Graeme has been given a six to eight week recovery period after a successful surgery on Friday. His knee injury is an old one that was aggravated during the IPL and the surgeon successfully managed to debride the cartilage thought to be causing the problem in his right knee.

“Although his rehabilitation period will be over by the time the Champions League commences, we feel that he will not be match ready at the time. He will now undergo a guided rehabilitation programme in the coming weeks and hopefully he will recover in time for the start of a very busy International summer,” said Team Manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee.

Smith injured his knee during the 2011 Indian Premier League in April while playing for the Pune Warriors and has been out of action since then. He would have been in action for the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at this year’s event.
