Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell Test Positive

India legspinner Rahul Sharma and South Africa fast bowler Wayne Parnell ave tested positive for drugs at a rave party held in Mumbai’s suburban Juhu on May 20.

Rahul is currently in Sri Lanka with the India team for their limited-overs series, while Parnell is in Zimbabwe as part of the South Africa A squad for a tri-series.

The BCCI president N Srinivasan said BCCI would investigate the matter thoroughly before deciding the future course of action.

“I don’t know why everyone is in a mood to execute Rahul Sharma without even going into the details,” Srinivasan said.

“The BCCI will first procure each and every bit of relevant information and then study them before deciding on the course of action.”

Cricket South Africa said it was still waiting for news. “We have not heard anything from officials in India and we cannot comment until then,” Mohammed Moosajee, South Africa team manager, said.

The Indian team management in Sri Lanka said they were waiting for an update from the BCCI.

“We have not received any communication from BCCI,” the team’s media manager Ravi Jain said. “So it would not be proper for me to comment anything on this at this stage.”

Rahul, 25, has played three ODIs and two Twenty20 matches for India. Parnell is three years younger but has played more matches – three Tests, 22 ODIs and 15 Twenty20 matches.

Sourav Ganguly, who sat out of the previous game, is back to lead Pune Warriors India.

Pune have dropped Michael Clarke and brought in another Australian Callum Ferguson. Jesse Ryder also returns while Alfonso Thomas is out.

Manish Pandey, Mohnish Mishra and Krishnakant Upadhyay have also been droped.

Rajasthan’s wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik is ruled out due to a finger injury. He has been replaced by Shreevats Goswami.

Offspiner Ajit Chandila comes for fast bowler Pankaj Singh.

Pune Warriors India captain, Sourav Ganguly, said “Two important games for us now and hopefully we play well.

“We started this tournament well but then we suffered quite a few losses. It is a new day though, and we have to go out and play well.

“I would have batted as well. You don’t win or lose all the time in sport, so we just need to come out and try to win today.

“Jesse is back and Callum Ferguson is back as well.”

Rajasthan Royals captain, Rahul Dravid, said “It’s a simple equation isn’t it, we need to win every game.

“We need to take it one game at a time from here, play good cricket and see what happens.

“This one is a little bare and it looks as though it might get slower and lower as the day goes on.

“Dishant has injured his finger so Srivats has come in for him.”

Pune Warriors India vs Rajasthan Royals Live Score

Pune Warriors India have one forced change to their line-up with Ashish Nehra replacing Ashok Dinda who seems to be struggling with injury.

Rajasthan Royals have too made a forced change, leaving out the injured Brad Hodge for Owais Shah.

Rajasthan Royals captain, Rahul Dravid, said “My batting is going well so far. If you have momentum and form then you just need to keep it going in the T20 format.

“Watson makes a huge difference to our side, he is a great cricketer, who bats, bowls and fields and adds a lot of leadership value as well.

“It is nice to pair up against Sourav again and play against him. We know a lot about each other.

“I would have liked to have batted first as well, but it looks like a good wicket so it should stay the same.

“Hodge misses out today unfortunately due to an injury and Owais Shah comes in.”

Pune Warriors India captain, Sourav Ganguly, said “We have to win but the results haven’t gone our way until now.

“We pushed Dinda in the last few games but he is part of the India A squad and he needs some rest to get fit now.

“Nehra comes in to the side in place of him.”
