Australia win toss, bowl first against India

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first against India in their World Twenty20 Group 2 game at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

India have made two changes. Ajinkya Rahane replaces Shikhar Dhawan while Mohit Sharma replaces Mohammad Shami.

India captain MS Dhoni said, “As the tournament progresses, the wickets will slow down even more. Today the dew is not much but it’s nothing compared to Chittagong.

“Anyway we wanted to bat first today. Let’s not look at a great total, just look to bat well and analyse later.

“We have a couple of changes. Rahane replaces Shikhar and Shami makes way for Mohit.”

Australia captain George Bailey said, “It seems that the ball is coming on to the bat in the night.

“The Indians are one of the favourites for the title. We need to be at our best.

“We are playing White in place of Faulkner.”

T20 World Cup 2014: India invite Pakistan to bat

India won the toss and elected to bowl against Pakistan in the first league match of the T20 World Cup 2014 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

Mohammad Hafeez said, “We as a team don’t really believe in history and we are looking to change a couple of things tonight.

“I think it’s a good pitch, the boys are looking forward to do well. Kamran and Shehzad will open the batting.

“Whenever we play against India, it’s an electrifying atmosphere and we are looking forward to do well.”

MS Dhoni said, “I think it’s the traditional rivalry that has unfolded. During the days of Javed Miandad, Salim Malik and Aaqib Javed, the rivalry was fierce, but it’s good to see that the acrimony has gone down a bit. Each international game gives you confidence.

“We will bowl first, we are playing with an extra-spinner in this game. Can’t really bank on the dew factor. We have got variety in the bowling department. The wicket looks a little soft, but a good wicket.”

T20 World Cup 2014: Bangladesh opt to bowl

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field against Afghanistan in the first qualifier of T20 World Cup 2014 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

“We’ll try our best to put a big total on the board and put the pressure on them,” says Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi.

“We are not in pressure and hopefully we’ll enjoy this game. Fantastic last win in the Asia Cup, more motivation for the boys.”

“Not bothered, nothing wrong with the wicket and there will be something early on and you never know what is a good total,” says Mushfiqur Rahim, the Bangladesh captain.

“So we’ll restrict them and do well. All the players are fit and we’re all ready to go.”

Bangladesh and Afghanistan have never previously met in a Twenty20 match.

Pakistan elect to bowl against India

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl against India in their Asia Cup 2014 match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

“It is slow, but keeping in mind the dew, it’s better to bowl first,” said Misbah-ul-Haq.

“Big opportunity for everyone to perform well and become a hero. It’s always a pressure game. We’ve included Mohammad Talha in for Anwar Ali.”

India Captain Virat Kohli said, “We would have loved to bowl first as well, but now we’ve got to put the runs on the board.

“We’ve seen that the Pakistani batting line-up has not been doing well in chases of late. We’ve got one change, Amit Mishra is playing in place of Stuart Binny.

“The other day I got the feel that the pacers were not able to control things and that’s why we are going in with the extra-spinner today.”

India won the toss and decided to field against Australia in one-off Twenty20 match at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

India captain MS Dhoni said, “We are looking to bowl first. It looks like a decent track, so we will see how much they score. It has been a batting paradise here so we can expect lot of runs.

“We have to improve our death bowling and there are other areas we can improve upon. Yuvraj looks leaner and fitter, thats good. No need to tell the way he bats. Mishra, Shami, Rayudu and Unadkat miss out.”

Australia captain George Bailey said, “We had a good training session in Mumbai and few of the boys played the World T20 League. We came here a couple of days ago and have practised well.

“T20 is challenging and it is about playing our best cricket more often. Nic Maddinson is on debut, Haddin, Doherty and McKay come in.”
