Tharindu Kaushal reported for suspect bowling action

Sri Lanka off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal has been reported with a suspected illegal bowling action during the third Test against India, which concluded at the Singhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Tuesday.

The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the Sri Lanka management, cited concerns about the legality of the 22-year-old’s bowling action.

Kaushal’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Kaushal is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

Asia Cup 2014: Sri Lanka elect to bowl against India

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field first against India in the league match of the Asia Cup 2014 at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah.

Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews said, “The wicket looks pretty slow today so we want to bowl first. We have three spinners today – Ajantha Mendis comes in for Lakmal.

“We are comfortable with an extra spinner and the dew factor will come in later on so we thought of bowling first.”

India captain Virat Kohli said, “We would have liked to bowl first too, but we have a strong batting line-up to chase.

“We have brought in Stuart Binny for Varun Aaron. We saw yesterday how the Afghanistan medium-fast bowlers were bowling well and stump to stump so we thought of bringing in a medium-pacer.”

ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Schedule

The ICC Champions Trophy 2013 is scheduled to be held in England and Wales between 6 and 23 June 2013.

Champions Trophy features the eight best one day international teams in the world and will be played out across three grounds – The Cardiff Wales Stadium, The Oval and Edgbaston.

Australia, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have been drawn in Group A. India, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies are in Group B.
