Tendulkar played with fever in first Test

Sachin Tendulkar, who is one century short of his 100th international century, batted with a running fever during India`s first innings on Saturday.

Tendulkar batted for close to an hour and a half to score a quick 34 from 58 balls before getting out to Stuart Broad.

Sachin left for the team hotel soon after he was out in the first Test.

Sachin, who did not field on Day three during England`s second innings, would be required to take the field on the fourth day`s play in order to bat at his customary number four position.

In he fails to do so, he could only come out to bat after the fall of India`s fifth wicket.

India would want Sachin to be fit when they bat again in an attempt to draw the first Test.

India were all out for 286 in their first innings, 188 runs behind England`s 474 for eight declared.
