The Hobart Hurricanes have announced two exciting Tasmanian players and their first international recruit today as part of the upcoming KFC Big Bash League.
Cricket Australia contracted players Tim Paine and Xavier Doherty were the first to sign with the new team, with crowd favourite Rana Naved also on his way back to Hobart.
Doherty said he was excited about being a part of history and slipping on the purple.
“Tassie cricket is in a good phase at the moment, and there will no doubt be a real Tasmanian flavour to the Hobart Hurricanes.
“It was an easy decision to sign with the Hurricanes. I have played all my cricket down here and spend enough time away from home over the summer, so it is a good feeling to know that I will be home over the six week period.
“Hobart was the only team I spoke to and I was very quick and happy to sign on,” Doherty said.
Tim Paine is currently in Zimbabwe captaining Australia A, however he said last night he is really looking forward playing for the Hobart Hurricanes and watching the rivalry between the teams build as players continue to sign.
