Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir said, “We have a lot of young talented players in the side and we are looking forward to do well in the tournament. I think we have covered all bases and it’s time that we deliver on the cricket field.

“We are going to have a bat, looks a good wicket, we want to put runs on the board. Morne, Sunil, Shakib and Jacques are the four foreigners who are playing. We are pretty strong in the bowling department.”

T20 World Cup 2014: India invite Pakistan to bat

India won the toss and elected to bowl against Pakistan in the first league match of the T20 World Cup 2014 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

Mohammad Hafeez said, “We as a team don’t really believe in history and we are looking to change a couple of things tonight.

“I think it’s a good pitch, the boys are looking forward to do well. Kamran and Shehzad will open the batting.

“Whenever we play against India, it’s an electrifying atmosphere and we are looking forward to do well.”

MS Dhoni said, “I think it’s the traditional rivalry that has unfolded. During the days of Javed Miandad, Salim Malik and Aaqib Javed, the rivalry was fierce, but it’s good to see that the acrimony has gone down a bit. Each international game gives you confidence.

“We will bowl first, we are playing with an extra-spinner in this game. Can’t really bank on the dew factor. We have got variety in the bowling department. The wicket looks a little soft, but a good wicket.”
