Paceman Varun Aaron has been ruled out of the Test series in Australia, which begins in Melbourne on December 26. He has been replaced by Vinay Kumar, who is currently part of India’s ODI squad.
“Varun Aaron has been ruled out of the test series against Australia due to a stress reaction in his lower back. He will be undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the NCA (National Cricket Academy),” BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a statement.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Vinay Kumar as his replacement in the Indian team for the Test series against Australia.”
Vinay is yet to make his Test debut but has been part of India’s limited-overs setup for close to a year since making his debut against Zimbabwe in May 2010 at Bulawayo. He has taken 16 wickets in 15 ODIs at an average of 36.31.
